Dear Mr. Lavery,
Thank you so much for answering my questions in regards to mounting issues. Your suggestions took two tries, but alas, the old guy can still learn. I used my most gruffy, commanding voice, and your suggestion of a little more stretch and plant to that park. It's as though you were right on my shoulder telling me how to do it, and I thank you, my old bones thank you too
Amy

Admin reply: I am so pleased that you found my advice to be helpful. By the tone of your letters I find it hard to believe you can find a gruff voice. But as you have found, a little tough love can work miracles. Being somewhat vertically challenged myself, I found that procedure to be a "body" saver over the years as well. Keep us posted of your progress. Thanks again.

Lonnie-
I so enjoyed your farm visit. You put so much time into watching each horse and such an attention to detail, it was great for all of us. And of course the clients who met "The visitor" just loved you. My only regret is you had to leave so soon but I will keep you posted as to how the crew does over the summer. That Park horse you liked, Navy Blue and Gold, won the Stake at Dixie Cup- keep an eye out for his ad in S&B. Pam, Liz, Carly and Andy too!

Admin reply: Thank you for your lovely "note". I can assure you the pleasure was really mine. Spending those days at such a beautiful and well run facility, working with such a professional crew and so many nice horses, and riders, made it extremely enjoyable and...even very easy for me to leave the beach. I glad that you found a "second opinion" to be of some benefit. What a thrill that Navy Blue and Gold had such a great victory! I will look forward to hearing of more of your successes. If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to call. Thanks, again.

Dear Mr. Lavery: Your son Joe is my trainer and he recommended that I read the postings on your website. So I did, and next thing I knew it was 3:00 a.m.! Unfortunately my perpetually grazing pug and rambunctious 9 year old son didn't understand why I was less than enthusiastic about getting up to make their breakfast the next morning. But the entertainment and education I got reading your posts more than made up my lack of sleep. You really should write a book! Thank you for one of the test evenings I've had in quite a while. Raquelle de la Rocha

Admin reply: Thank you for your kind comments. Your horse is in good hands with my son. I am pleased you have enjoyed the site. If my ramblings can somewhat educated while being entertaining, I am satisfied with my efforts.
Thanks again,

LFL

Admin reply: Thank you for your note. I am so glad you are implementing my suggestions with the snaffle bit that both you and your horse are comfortable with and a RUNNING martingale. It's good not to "Yank&Crank" so what ever you do don't do on Griffth Park's famous "Suicide hill"

Update on the Fall '08 Auction Special:
Thank you again for your comments in this internet site. It is such a joy to listen to sage advice, with humor added.
Your analysis of my "auction special" who was turning around has proved to be accurate. When ridden again, he has turned around again, at least twice each time, but I just quickly & quietly turned him back around (not the way he wanted to turn, but the opposite direction). There is much to like about him, though I will still look for another horse. In the mean time, I will learn all I can from him and in working with my trainer. And this habit may even fade away, making my time with him really fun.
Thanks so much for your observations.

Admin reply: I am so pleased that you have not given up and are getting a bit of joy out of your horse. Often times I have felt as you did and thought about quitting on one. The key is if the behavior can be corrected thus salvaging the horse. Only time will be the judge. I look forward to hearing of even more progress, here in the guest book. Thanks,
LFL

Admin reply: Thank you. Your comments are well taken and exactly why we have a Guest Book. I appreciate that you feel the information you are gaining now will come in handy in the future. That is truly what I hope this site can do. The affection we all have for horses, can be much easier to give when we are having fun instead of problems. Thank you again, please return in the future.

My wife and I have tried the things you suggested we try even though we thought them strange. I must say we are very pleasantly surprized with the results. The mare is "eating like a horse" again. She has almost quit pacing in her stall and the hair is growing back where there was none.Thank-you, thank-you. We do note that our letter, from March, has never appeared on this sight. Do you print all letters? We are hoping that this page becomes more popular so we can hear from others. We think you are amazing. George and Merideth B.

Admin reply: Thank you so much for your kind comments. I can't tell you how pleased I am that your nice mare has turned the corner. It sounds like it is all downhill from here. Yes, a couple of the things I recommended were even more than strange, that is one of the reasons I do not post all the letters as some of my advice would defiantly be a little too scary for the general public to try. Thanks again for your comments and for signing my guest book. Please return here with reports of your mare's progress.

Great web-site!

Very informative!

Thanks Lonnie.

Admin reply: Linda,

I'd like to thank you for the kind words of your post. I will be leaving your wonderful Sunshine state to head North in just a few weeks. The winter has been fantastic here but I already have several "Farm Calls" to make as I make my way back to Ohio. I am looking forward to them and perhaps a few more will take advantage of my tour through the South. I am extremely pleased that you enjoyed the "site". Please be a regular and come again. Thanks,

LF Lavery

I think this site is neat. I sent him a question this morning. I learn alot from the other emails.

Admin reply: Amy,

Thank you so much for your kind words and for being brave enough to be our first "Guest Book" visitor. It is my hope that many more will join you in the future leaving comments and suggestions for me to ponder. I would love to hear some new "Tips of the Day" for instance and I would enjoy hearing if reading the letters on the site is of any help to others. I have not recieved your letter yet, but I am looking forward to it. Because you are one of the first "Visitors" I will include something extra with my reply. Once again, Thank You.
